The GOG Galaxy 2.0 Update is Live
The formerly known Atlas code-named update which underwent beta testing is live as GOG Galaxy 2.0, offering several new features and fixing many known bugs. GOG Galaxy 2.0 grid and list view customization as well as Global Search which makes finding friends, games and other things on the platform in one easy search. While there are many quality of life changes and the update fixes a lot of UI issues, GOG acknowledges there are things like syncing bookmarks between devices and manual game update notifications that they intend to bring to the platform in future updates. The GOG Galaxy 2.0 update is available now as it combines all of your games and all of your friends in one place for Steam-like convenience.
The GOG Galaxy 2.0 update allows you to launch or install a game from any platform and it uses an algorithm to search your metadata, letting gamers search with tags, ratings or genres. The update overview for the new update shows off Links Awakening and God of War alongside familiar PC titles such as System Shock and Apex Legends. Because you can link games from any platform to GOG, the platform can track your playtime and your rank for each title, among other things. Rearranging colums is made as easy as dragging and dropping while GOG offers multiple ways to sort their library from time played to the developer or even the critic rating. The GOG Galaxy 2.0 update even allows gamers to remove the game icon in their library for anyone who’s sick of visual cues.
There are new sections on GOG alongside the new features, such as a “What’s New” window which highlights new features and a new section of the sidebar that manages active, queued and completed downloads. Gamers can now see which friends own the same games as they do and they can now check if their friends are playing a GOG.com game on that game’s Game View. Overlay support is officially live for Vulkan games and the input lag from some games’ overlay has been fixed with other bugs the GOG Galaxy 2.0 update fixes.
