Sony Removes Release Dates From CES 2021 Trailer

Sony Changed a Recent CES Trailer

Sony has officially retroactively removed many details and game release dates from an existing CES trailer it put together. Some of the titles that received release dates or windows that Sony later removed are Capcom’s Pragmata, Square Enix’s Project Athia, and Ember Lab’s Kena: Bridge of Spirits. Sony Interactive Entertainment’s recently released Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available right now for PS4 and PS5.

Before Sony retroactively edited the CES 2021 trailer, Capcom’s Pragmata was given a January 2023 release date, later than the initially planned 2022 release. Kena: Bridge of Spirits originally had a release window of Spring 2021, but during the CES 2021 trailer it was given a more concrete March 2021 release window. Square Enix also apparently plans to release Project Athia in January of next year, with a timed-exclusivity for PS5.

Returnal is currently listed for a March 19th release, Solar Ash is releasing in June, Little Devil Inside is expected to release this July, and both Stray and Ghostwire Tokyo are listed for an October release. Despite Sony removing the new release dates and windows from the CES 2021 trailer, it’s still possible to find the release information if you dig hard enough. Sony still kept any first-party release date information in the CES 2021 trailer, suggesting they wanted to focus on the big projects.

Sony has yet to clarify why they edited the information in the CES 2021 trailer, but it will be interesting to discover the motivation behind it. Which game in the trailer are you looking forward to?
