Sony Has Officially Killed the Killzone Franchise Website

Some Online Features in Killzone Shadow Fall Are Affected

It’s been 7 years since the release of the last entry in the Killzone series, Killzone Shadow Fall. Considering the lack of information about the series since the game’s release on PlayStation 4 in November, 2013, the fate of the series has been hanging in the balance ever since. Well, unfortunately it seems like things are looking even worse for fans of the series, as Sony has officially retired the Killzone franchise website, killzone.com.

The site has been updated with a notice regarding the changes made to the game’s domain. Aside from this notice, the rest of the site’s pages and features have been removed and are now inaccessible. Soon the site will be taken down entirely and will redirect you to PlayStation.com.

“The official website for the KILLZONE franchise has retired. Going forward, visitors to Killzone.com will be directed to PlayStation.com.”

Players of Killzone Mercenary and Killzone Shadow Fall online will be happy to know that most features are not affected by this with the exception of creating and managing clans in Killzone Shadow Fall.

“While this change doesn’t affect the online multiplayer modes, player statistics or ranking data for KILLZONE MERCENARY and KILLZONE SHADOW FALL, it is now no longer possible to create or manage clans in KILLZONE SHADOW FALL. We apologize for this inconvenience.”

Killzone developer, Guerrilla Games closes the statement with a thank you to fans of the series.

“Thank you to Killzone.com’s many fans and visitors throughout the years for their enthusiasm and support.

Sincerely,

Guerrilla”

In recent years Guerrilla Games’ efforts have been spent on the Horizon  series, and with Horizon Forbidden West’s release on the horizon, it is no surprise that the developer’s resources are likely all being spent on their latest IP. Not to say we won’t ever see a Killzone game again, but as of now, it looks like there are no plans for another entry in the franchise anytime soon.
