Ori and the Will of the Wisps
Ori and the Blind Forest was a shining indie gem combining insanely detailed hand-drawn art, a heartfelt story, and a deeply moving score alongside challenging and unique platforming. The Will of the Wisps picks right up on that formula adding in the requisite upgrades every good sequel needs. If Ori can recapture the joy and heartbreak of the first game, this is a guaranteed winner.
Ashen
Set in a world enveloped in darkness, Ashen is an action RPG about trust and building relationships with NPCs. The world is dangerous and compelling, and the faceless characters somehow carry the weight of the world on their shoulders. The scope of the experience remains to be seen, but Ashen is undoubtedly worthy of being on your 2018 shortlist.
A Way Out
What’s more exciting than a prison break or heist of any type? It’s one of those things being developed by the team behind Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The duality of that game has evolved here into an experience that is truly different at every turn and looks like it has the potential to be every bit as incredible as Brothers.
Super Meat Boy Forever
