Bandai Namco Helped Mario Kart and Arms Achieve Success
Bandai Namco recently updated their website’s products page to express their role in Nintendo titles such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Arms and Mario Kart Tour. Apparently Bandai Namco contributed about half of the visual assets for Arms and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe while playing more of a partial role with 3D visual assets in Mario Kart Tour. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Arms are available for the Nintendo Switch, while Mario Kart Tour is a mobile title available on iOS and Android.
The website states that Bandai Namco contributed “approximately half of visual assets for courses, characters, and machine parts” to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe but for Mario Kart Tour, they only “partially implemented in-games and 3D visual assets for courses, characters, and machines” and “approximately half of bonus challenges.” Their work with Arms mimics their role with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, contributing “approximately half of visual assets for stages, fighters, and arms.” We knew the relationship between Nintendo and Bandai Namco was strong today but the fact that Bandai played such a significant role in the best selling Nintendo Switch title likely only strengthens their bond.
These contributions will continue for the foreseeable future and we’re looking forward to seeing Bandai Namco and Nintendo’s next best selling collaboration. Of course, the studio contributed in a more minor role on titles such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and Pokken Tournament. The studio also worked with Nintendo on games for the Wii U and 3DS such as Super Smash Bros. Wii U/3DS and if you go further back, they played a role in games like Mario Super Sluggers for the Nintendo Wii. Apparently Nintendo trusts Bandai Namco with their main plumber, Mario in a number of titles which says a lot about their working relationship.
