The game industry is filled with talented development studios producing some of the best that gaming has to offer. A conversation about the best in gaming wouldn’t be complete without discussing the incredible talent found at Remedy Entertainment. These Finnish video game developers have been bringing gamers a consistent level of quality for over twenty years and are showing no signs of slowing down. From humble beginnings with their top-down racer, Death Rally, to their latest achievement, Control, Remedy Entertainment is among an elite group of developers that deserves some serious recognition. 5) Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne

We’ll kick off this list with Max Payne 2: The Fall of Max Payne, the sequel to Max Payne and the only true sequel Remedy Entertainment has ever made (with the exception of Alan Wake’s American Nightmare, which we’ll chat about later). Max Payne 2 takes place two years after the original game with Max bring reinstated to the NYPD as a detective. He’s reunited with Mona Sax, and the two set out to uncover a deep conspiracy. Max Payne 2 retained much of the beloved mechanics from the original game, such as Max’s poetic narrations and the Matrix-like bullet-time. Almost 10 years after Max Payne 2 was released, Rockstar Games would develop and release Max Payne 3. Remedy Entertainment didn’t develop Max Payne 3, so it wasn’t in contention for this list, but they were consulted to help ensure the end product was a solid Max Payne game – and it was.

4) Quantum Break

The 2016 Xbox One/PC exclusive Quantum Break was an outstanding game that really did a great job of blending live-action video with the video game elements – something not uncommon for Remedy Entertainment games, but that really shined in Quantum Break. Between each level, players were treated with a decent sized live-action video featuring the same actors/characters to help push the story along. Choices made by the player would change the outcomes of these live-action sequences and the game itself, ultimately providing multiple game endings. The casting for Quantum Break is still the best we’ve seen from a Remedy Entertainment game, featuring the likes of Shawn Ashmore, Aiden Gillen, and Lance Reddick. If you haven’t played Quantum Break before, I strongly suggest you go back in time and put it on your to-do list.
