Remedy Plans On Improving Control’s Performance on Consoles

Control Launched With Some Serious Framerate Issues

Remedy’s latest game Control launched earlier this week and though it’s been receiving great reviews, the game launched on consoles with performance issues (especially during combat sections). While Remedy hasn’t given a specific date for a performance patch, an official blog post stated that the studio was planning to improve the game’s performance on consoles.

“Right now, the team are looking at possible ways of improving console optimization in Control,” the blog post read, “but as you can hopefully understand, these things do take time and don’t happen at the press of a button (as much as we wish they did). We are also examining specific issues that some players have been experiencing and looking for fixes on those. When we have more info, we will be sure to let you know across our community channels.”

Our review of Control was glowing with praise but did mention framerate dips (even though the game was being reviewed on a PS4 Pro). “The framerate dipped to stop motion levels at times, while some grimy textures and severe checkerboard artifacting worked hard to break my immersion,” the reviewer noted.
