Call of Duty 2020 Reveal May Happen in Warzone
Activision president Robert Kostich has recently stated that the Call of Duty 2020 reveal will be more different and engaging than reveals of the past. He hinted at an in-game reveal in Warzone but didn’t mention anything specific other than saying it will be an engaging reveal. Call of Duty 2020 has received countless rumors while it has been in development for years, with Treyarch and Raven working on the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is available for PS4, Xbox One, and PC, with the free-to-play battle royale Warzone being out on the same platforms.
“Warzone has caused us to rethink how, when, and even where we reveal our upcoming titles, so we can’t wait to share that with the community. We think it’s going to be very different and more engaging than anything we’ve ever done before,” said Robert Kostich. While Fortnite has done a lot of interesting reveals and events utilizing the battle royale platform, it’ll be interesting to see what fun and engaging things Activision and Infinity Ward has planned for the Call of Duty 2020 reveal and beyond.
Typically by this time in the development cycle, Call of Duty fans know what to expect from the next installment in the franchise, but this year is different due to some development issues and problems caused by COVID-19. Since Warzone is a free-to-play battle royale like Fortnite, more people will have access to this engaging and different reveal event than if Modern Warfare was revealed through Black Ops 4’s Blackout mode.
“Although Warzone is very closely tied to Modern Warfare, it was designed from the beginning as its own game,” said Infinity Ward design director Geoff Smith. “As the game continues to be updated over time, it will evolve and become tied to other games in the Call of Duty universe.”
