Sons of the Forest Announced at The Game Awards

Sons of the Forest Is the Sequel to The Forest from Endnight Games

During The Game Awards, Endnight Games unveiled their upcoming sequel to The Forest, Sons of the Forest. The game will continue the horror atmosphere mixed with survival gameplay that The Forest set in place in 2014. The title has no confirmed platforms or release date but apparently it will at least end up on PC. Because The Forest had a three year early access phase, it’s likely that Sons of the Forest will get the early access treatment as well.

Although The Game Awards trailer basically confirms the horror themes and survival elements of gameplay seen in The Forest, it’s currently unknown whether or not crafting will play a significant role as it did in the original. Because The Forest was such a success, it’s likely that the Sons of the Forest will build upon everything the first title set in place to bring lapsed players back and new gamers in. The trailer has an ominous tone to it before anything happens but before it ends, the creepy mutants that are familiar to the series swarm the player character. Check out the creepy trailer below:

Apparently, Sons of the Forest will include more weapons than the original title, with more focus on co-op. Two characters are shown treking through the jungle together in the trailer but we’re not sure if that’s another player controlled character or an ally AI but either way, Endnight Games seems to focus more on team dynamics in the sequel to The Forest. We aren’t sure how exactly but Endnight Games somehow made the mutants from The Forest even more creepy.
