New Story Details and Maps From Doom Eternal Leaked
Within a recent 4Chan leak of id Software’s Doom Eternal, it’s revealed that the Doom Slayer from the 2016 reboot of the franchise is really Doom Guy from the original games. Doom Guy seems to be stuck in an Eternal time loop and Eternal will apparently address this. The leaks also include a detailed list of maps gamers can expect to see throughout the campaign of Doom Eternal as well as a hub world that will include various mini-games such as target practice. Doom Eternal releases on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC on November 22nd.
Eternal will apparently include 17 single-player campaign maps which will span across Earth, Heaven, Hell and Mars. The following information may include spoilers as the maps leaked are:
Sentinel Prime (the Fall of Corrax), The Colosseum (Imminent Fury), Headquarters (Not the Villain), Surface Facility (Destroyer of Worlds), Mars Core (Escape), Gateway (Traveler), Suburbs (Hell On Earth), Downtown (City Fight), Cultist Base (the Blind Council), Hellgate (Wraiths), Blood Temple (Beyond the Well), Pantheon (the Netherworld), Mothership (the Light-Bringer), Axis Mundi (Paradise Lost), Primum Mobile (Transcendence), Empyrean (Meet Your Makyr) and The Source (the Icon of Sin).
These maps have us excited for the narrative potential of Eternal, giving us Darksiders and Diablo vibes while retaining the classic feeling that was rebuilt from the ground up in the best ways during the 2016 franchise reboot. It’s nice knowing that Doom Slayer was really Doom Guy all along as many fans have grown attached to the titular character since the original game released in 1993. While Doom Eternal features many unlockable weapons, skins, etc. from previous installments, it’ll include new content as well, including post-launch DLC that will expand the single-player campaign. Other microtransactions are expected during post-launch and may include cosmetic changes for the online multiplayer for gamers to experiment with.
