Starfield Will Received a New Story DLC Along With Free Updates and Features

Starfield Is About to Grow Bigger

Bethesda is continuing its long-term support for Starfield, the 2023 space RPG that remains one of the studio’s biggest projects. In a new developer spotlight, lead creative producer Tim Lamb confirmed that players can expect more updates and expansions, including a second major story DLC.

“I’m really excited for players to see what the team has been working on. We have some cool stuff coming, including free updates and features that players have been asking for, as well as a new DLC story,” he said. “I can’t go into all the details just yet, but I will say part of the team has been focused on space gameplay to make the travels there more rewarding. We’re also adding some new game systems, and a few other smaller delights.”

The first story expansion, Shattered Space, arrived in September 2024. It introduced a new planet, additional weapons, and fresh gear to expand player options. Bethesda has yet to reveal what the next DLC will offer, though anticipation is already high among fans.

Lamb avoided addressing persistent rumors about new platforms for Starfield. Reports from reliable leakers have suggested that the game could launch on PS5 and Nintendo’s Switch 2 in 2026. However, nothing has been officially confirmed.

Meanwhile, Bethesda Game Studios continues to juggle several major projects. Development is underway on The Elder Scrolls 6 and Fallout 5, two of the studio’s most highly anticipated titles. The company also released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered earlier this year, which has already become the second best-selling game of 2025 in the United States.

With ongoing updates for Starfield and multiple major franchises in development, Bethesda is ensuring that its universe of RPGs remains as expansive as ever.
