Apple Arcade Takes a Bite out of Mobile Gaming
Apple Arcade is now available for iPads and iPhones with iOS 13 as well as Mac and Apple TV for $4.99 per month, giving gamers access to a library of over 100 games by the end of fall. The launch lineup includes exclusives such as developer Dodge Roll’s Exit the Gungeon and Capcom’s Shinsekai: Into the Depths which are completely ad-free. For gamers who are interested in Apple Arcade but aren’t ready to pay monthly, the service offers a free one month trial on the available iOS 13 devices.
The launch lineup for Apple Arcade also includes Klei Entertainment’s Hot Lava, Konami’s Frogger in Toy Town and Simogo’s Sayonara Wild Hearts. Exit the Gungeon is Dodge Roll’s sequel to 2016’s indy darling Enter the Gungeon. While it’s likely titles like Exit the Gungeon will eventually release on other platforms, Apple Arcade is still able to lock down some exclusives and bring a great collection of games available together for one flat subscription rate.
Mobile games are fun and we’ll be checking out this service to see if it’s worth the $4.99 for us, but it’s another Game Pass tailored to the mobile audience. To give you an idea of what to expect from a couple of the games on Apple Arcade, here is our review of Enter the Gungeon and here is our review for Oceanhorn 2: Knight’s of the Lost Realm’s prequel, Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas. Both are high scoring titles and their sequels are definitely a great snag for the Apple gaming service.
