Splatoon

*** Review ***

Proving that not all shooters need to be needlessly violent, Splatoon was a breath of fresh air. The new IP from Nintendo was a massive hit, and showed that Nintendo can successfully pull off an online-focused game.

Tearaway Unfolded

*** Review ***

One of the PlayStation Vita’s best games is now one of the highlights of the PlayStation 4’s library. Tearaway Unfolded reimagines the original game with a new control scheme that takes advantage of the DualShock 4 controller, and is fun for both newcomers and returning players.

Xenoblade Chronicles X

*** Review ***

Despite suffering from some issues, Xenoblade Chronicles X is a true gaming accomplishment. Monolith Soft’s latest RPG is absolutely huge, with a world that manages to dwarf other open-world games. If you own a Wii U, and are willing to put in the time commitment, then this is one game that is worth checking out.

Until Dawn

*** Review ***

Despite Supermassive Games being an unproven developer, Sony gave them the budget and time to produce a AAA game in Until Dawn. Playing like an interactive horror film, Until Dawn was one of 2015’s biggest surprises.

Yoshi’s Woolly World

*** Review ***

No game this year is filled with as much happiness as Yoshi’s Woolly World. This excellent platformer is brimming with charm, and it’s yarn aesthetic is simply gorgeous. This is the best game starring Yoshi since the Super Nintendo.
