Ubisoft India Explains Prince of Persia Remake Style

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Has Unique Visuals

According to the game director of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Pierre Sylvain-Gires, the visuals of the game shown off at the recent Ubisoft Forward is a stylistic choice. The footage came from an alpha build of the upcoming remake and many fans thought Ubisoft India would continue to improve the visuals, but that may not be the case according to Sylvain-Gires. Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake comes to life for PS4, Xbox One, and PC on January 21st.

“Obviously when you touch such an iconic game our main challenge as a team for production was to actually provide the right feeling of the gameplay for Prince of Persia because it is such an iconic game,” said Pierre Sylvain-Gires. “The character is not moving like Bayek is moving in Assassin’s Creed Origins or other different characters. It’s very unique. According to the acrobatics, the velocity of the Prince and really wanted to respect the brand for the fan and the player to understand why Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time was the first game of its genre and actually create a new trend for the gaming industry.”

When discussing the rewind feature offered in the Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake, Pierre Sylvain-Gires said, “the Anvil engine was not made at all to do rewind, to do slow motion, to do all those time manipulation. The tech approach was a challenge. Senior Producer of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake Annu Koul also chimed in to say, “Anvil engine is mainly for open-world games. The game we have is a short, linear game and not an open-world game so there are many challenges we have to be wary of.”
