Splinter Cell Remake Shows Signs of Life
Ubisoft’s Splinter Cell remake may have gone quiet, but the project doesn’t appear to have disappeared. Nearly five years after the remake was first announced, the company has yet to show any gameplay or release a proper trailer, but new job listings suggest development is still moving forward behind the scenes.

As spotted by Insider Gaming and thanks to a news source from Gamespot, Ubisoft has posted openings for several positions connected to the project in recent months, including roles for a level designer and producer. While job listings don’t reveal exactly how far development has progressed, they do indicate that Ubisoft continues to work on the remake.
There are also plenty of questions surrounding what the new version of Splinter Cell will ultimately look like. The original game launched in 2002, and the remake will need to revisit some of its story and themes for a very different modern landscape. It also remains unclear how much the remake will borrow from later entries such as Splinter Cell: Conviction and Blacklist, which introduced more action-focused mechanics.
The last mainline Splinter Cell game, Blacklist, arrived in 2013. Since then, Sam Fisher has appeared in other Ubisoft titles, including Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six Siege. A Netflix animated series also brought the character back to the spotlight, with Liev Schreiber taking over voice duties from Michael Ironside.
For now, Ubisoft is keeping Sam Fisher firmly in the shadows. Fans may have to wait a little longer before the remake finally steps into the light.
