Overwatch 2 Will Be a Full Priced Release According to GameStop Germany
GameStop Germany has recently leaked some details about the upcoming Overwatch 2, including an expected price and some of the features to expect. The game will be releasing at a full retail price, despite offering similar gameplay, maps, characters, etc. to the original Blizzard hero shooter. Overwatch 2 is expected to be $80 on each platform that it’s releasing on, but GameStop Germany didn’t confirm Xbox Series X or PS5 releases. Overwatch 2 is currently set to release for Xbox One, PS4, PC and Nintendo Switch later this year.
Although GameStop Germany has leaked several details about Overwatch 2, there’s no mention on a next-gen version of the game. Considering the apparent late 2020 release, it’s likely that Xbox Series X and PS5 versions will eventually be announced or leaked as well. Blizzard Entertainment is planning on treating Overwatch 2 as a full-priced release rather than an expansion at a lower price point, which was expected but unconfirmed before these GameStop Germany leaks. It’s possible that if Overwatch 2 is a cross-generational game that the Xbox Series X version will feature Smart Delivery for fans who upgrade to next-gen later.
Some of the Overwatch 2 features shared by GameStop Germany are Side by Side co-op missions, improved interface, hero missions and more. Side by Side focuses on the story-based PvE storyline that includes heroes and villains who can fight alongside each other, with up to four gamers coming together to complete missions and defeat scores of robots. While the new characters, maps and 6v6 PvP combat will be available in the original Overwatch, the sequel will feature upgraded graphics and an improved game engine. While these leaks should be taken with a grain of salt, the detailed information seems credible.
