Mario Kart Tour Celebrates New Year’s

New Content Joins Mario Kart Tour for New Year’s

Mario Kart Tour has added the New Year’s Tour in a free update to celebrate New Year’s Eve and ring in the New Year properly for Kart racers around the world. The new tour revises the Tokyo track to be more festive for the holiday to help Kart racers get in the holiday spirit. The update included new drivers such as a Red Yoshi, new karts such as the Golden Blooper, gliders and much more. The New Year’s Tour will be live in Mario Kart Tour until January 14th so Kart racers have a couple of weeks to unlock what they want on the free-to-play mobile game.

Alongside the revised New Year’s Tokyo track comes a plethora of new content added to the free mobile Mario Kart title. The New Year’s costumes for Mario and Toad in particular add unique twists to the quirky characters, as well as adding more blue to their colour scheme. In contrast, the Red Yoshi is a departure for fans familiar with the Green iteration of the dinosaur but will feel nostalgic to fans of Yoshi’s Story and Yoshi’s Island. We hope every colour variant of Yoshi is added to Mario Kart Tour in time.

The free Kart racing mobile title is continuously updated with new content since it was released in September and it’s apparently ringing in the new year by continuing that theme. The title just recently finished celebrating the Winter update and it’s already on to the next big update with the New Year’s Tour. The mobile game was downloaded over ten million times on release day and has likely only accumulated more kart racers from around the world since then. Of those ten million users, $37.4 million was spent on Mario Kart Tour during the first month alone.
