A New Holiday Event and Hardcore Mode Are Being Added to the Division 2
Update 6.1 for Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 is adding Situation: Snowball, a seasonal event where agents will throw snowballs at each other. Ubisoft will also be adding a hardcore, permadeath mode to the game with the update, alongside festive gear to unlock and a new weapon that shoots snowballs. Hardcore mode will technically be in beta when it releases, presumably so Ubisoft can fix things through patches. The Division 2 will receive update 6.1 on December 10th for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
During the upcoming seasonal event starting December 10th, gamers will be greeted with a festive makeover for the login screen alongside some in-game aesthetic changes. Gamers can apparently grab a holiday care package like they would grab a gift from under the tree that will include a festive Santa hat and three pieces of equipment which will also likely be holiday themed. Ambusher crews also have a random chance of wearing Santa Hats and dropping “The Sleigher” weapon which fires snowballs and confuses enemies when hit.
Apparently hardcore mode is considered a small addition to the game, it adds more replayability to the title and bragging rights for agents to achieve or fail to reach. Gamers start hardcore mode with a new Agent, lose all progress and items on death and can then start again just like any permadeath title. Ubisoft haven’t added more characters slots so gamers with too many characters will have to delete one. Hardcore Mode comes with special vanity rewards such as a YOLO hat which is awarded for reaching level 2 but they don’t transfer over to other characters.
