Never Run Out of Ways to Avenge in Marvel’s Avengers

Crystal Dynamics Adding Endless Content to the Avengers

Crystal Dynamics is working with Eidos Montreal to ensure that gamers never run out of things to do in Marvel’s Avengers. This will be the first time the studio dabbles into the live service model and they’ve been observing what has and hasn’t worked with other games on the market. During a recent interview at Comic-Con 2019, Crystal Dynamics Studio Head Scot Amos gave details on the development of Marvel’s Avengers which releases on May 15th 2020 for PS4, Xbox One, PC and Google Stadia.

“We’ve learnt a lot from a lot of very, very good products out there of what does or doesn’t work and how quickly these amazing players who are particular fanatics can consume content,” said Scot Amos. “How do we do this in a way that’s smart and keeps them engaged and rewards them for their time? That’s actually the biggest thing for us. If you want to play more, we want to give you more stuff to do.”

Based on another recent Marvel title, Spider-Man, we have seen big open worlds that seemed to have endless things to do. Unrelated to Marvel games, Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Monster Hunter World have been providing their communities with endless amounts of content for reference as well. We’re curious which games in particular Crystal Dynamics have been observing and if they looked to Anthem for what not to do.

“I’m salivating about all the things that we can do and the amount of heroes that we want to add. I just hope when the players get their hands on it, they say ‘yes, we want more!'” Continued Scot Amos, “we have a great world that we can reach into and listen to those folks and react.”
