Blizzard Increasing Pace of Content Production

During an Earnings Call, Blizzard President Confirms Content Production Increase

On their recent second quarter earnings call, Blizzard confirmed being happy with recent progress they’ve made in ramping up content production but admit there are many ways they can improve. They acknowledge the wide demand for Blizzard titles around the world and the popularity most of them receive such as Overwatch and the Warcraft games. “We’ve seen significant new content for Hearthstone and for World of Warcraft just this quarter, and those are both very positively received by both communities,” said company President J. Allen Brack.

Activision Blizzard

Activision Blizzard has been recently met with increasing numbers of layoffs and other employees leaving the company at an alarming rate but Blizzard’s president J. Allen Brack confirmed the company has expanded their developer talent to focus on quality titles. They intend to expand  all of their franchises and have seen success with World of Warcraft and Hearthstone recently. With Diablo Immortal and Overwatch 2 on the horizon, we still can’t help but think a StarCraft universe first-person-shooter would’ve been cool but these hopes were recently dashed to focus on other titles.

“Having more people in place to support the various initiatives that we have and the various features is really critical,” continued J. Allen Brack about the priorities changing at Blizzard last year. “It’s the process of iteration that we feel is really critical to us reaching the right quality levels.” We’re hoping these structural changes with the company help them continue making quality titles that gamers have grown to expect from the publisher. Though J. Allen Brack expects it to still take some time, he remains confident in the progress already being made.
