3. FIFA 23 – September 30
The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in September 2022 has a couple of major sports sim titles. The first is FIFA 23. The FIFA series has been steadily improving over the last few releases. Hopefully FIFA 23 continues that trend. This will be the final game in the FIFA series, as EA is changing the franchise brand to EA Sports FC. FIFA 23 will be available for all consoles and PC, but there has been some massive community backlash over the limited crossplay capabilities the game will have.
2. NBA 2K23 – September 9
The other massive sports sim release in the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in September 2022 is NBA 2K23. It doesn’t sound like there are going to be any massive changes in this year’s game. The aspect getting the most hype is Michael Jordan being the cover athlete on the MJ and Championship editions. The Jordan challenges have been redesigned for next gen consoles, and there is unannounced Michael Jordan in-game material planned for the future. NBA 2K23 will be available on all consoles and PC.
1. Splatoon 3 – September 9
The highest ranked games in the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in September 2022 were all so massive, that I had to look up prior franchise sales in order to determine which order to rank them. Splatoon 2 outsold NBA 2K22, which makes Splatoon the most anticipated release this September. And fair enough, as Splatoon fans have had to wait 5 years for a new title. Nintendo is so hyped about Splatoon 3’s release that they’ve created a Splatoon 3-themed Switch OLED console, as well as pro controller. As I’m sure most reader’s realize, this third person shooter is a Switch exclusive.
