Splatoon Raiders Is Also on Its Way
Splatoon 3 has now received a Nintendo Switch 2 rating from the European age rating board PEGI, following a similar listing earlier this week for Pikmin 3 Deluxe. This update demonstrates that Nintendo continues to formalize Switch 2 support for its major first-party titles.
PEGI added the Switch 2 version of Splatoon 3 to its database on 31 December 2025. The listing now appears alongside the original Nintendo Switch version, both submitted by Nintendo of Europe SE. While the rating may come as a surprise to some fans, Nintendo had already released a free Switch 2 update for Splatoon 3 in June last year, which improved resolution and boosted the frame rate on the newer hardware.

Nintendo originally launched Splatoon 3 on the Nintendo Switch in 2022. Since then, the game has remained one of the company’s most actively supported multiplayer titles. Nintendo has delivered regular updates that added new content, refined gameplay balance, and kept the online community engaged. The most recent update arrived in September 2025.
By assigning an official Switch 2 rating, Nintendo clearly separates the enhanced version from the original release as the new system gains momentum. Although Nintendo has not announced additional features tied to this rating, the listing reinforces the company’s commitment to supporting Splatoon 3 across hardware generations.
The Splatoon franchise will expand further with Splatoon Raiders, a new spin-off scheduled for release in 2026. Unlike the main series entries, this upcoming title will focus on a single-player, story-driven experience, offering a fresh direction for the long-running series.
