Resident Evil 2 Remake (January 25, 2019) – PS4, Xbox One, PC
Resident Evil 2 is probably on the top ten for “formative to current Gen Z’s nightmares” when it comes to video games, and few horror games are riper for a reimagining. With a different camera angle from the original game, the development team hopes to capture the same fearful mood that captured so many young (and not-so-young!) minds while keeping the gameplay and atmosphere fresh. Resident Evil 2 is, as always, one to watch out for.
Tropico 6 (January 25, 2019) – PS4, Xbox One, PC, Mac
It’s the sixth time for El Presidente to make his mark on the Caribbean island of Tropico. What kind of ruler will you be? This upcoming construction and management sim will hopefully delight longtime fans of the popular series, along with adding a number of features like additional island building to attract old and new players alike.
Kingdom Hearts III (January 29, 2019) – PS4, Xbox One
The biggest bomb drops at the end of the month, of course, is Kingdom Hearts III. Calling it one of the most highly anticipated games of the month is a joke. Calling it one of the biggest games of the year is a misnomer. Calling it one of the biggest releases this decade? Well, maybe that’s a bit much, but let’s be honest, there are teenagers in middle school that are as old as the time gap between the second and third Kingdom Hearts games. Few people are positive they know what Kingdom Hearts is about, but it’s certainly got a large cast of beloved characters, and there are going to be a lot of people eagerly playing the conclusion to Sora, Donald Duck, and Riku’s long-running saga on January 19th.
