3. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion – December 13
There are some of us who were overjoyed upon hearing the announcement of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion. Until now, Crisis Core was a PSP exclusive, which was a handheld system owned by very few North Americans. But it was a prequel to Final Fantasy VII that shed tons of detail about its most exciting story flashback events, and was very coveted. It sounds like Square Enix are adding tons of upgrades, and links to Final Fantasy VII Remake. But some if us are just happy to have access to Crisis Core with a camera control joystick. Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion will be available for everything.
2. Marvel’s Midnight Sons – December 2
Midnight Suns sounds like its going to be X-COM with a Marvel Universe skin. Marvel Tactical RPGs are rare, and there have to be a ton of players out there waiting for this mash-up. For those who don’t know, Midnight Sons (with an “o”) was a 90s horror comic featuring supernatural Marvel characters like Ghost Rider and Blade. It was very much a horror comic first, and less an action-based superhero story. It will be interesting to see how Midnight Suns will differentiate itself from Avengers or Ultimate Alliance, with characters like Iron Man and Captain America being useable. Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be available on PS5, Xbox Series and PC December 2, but last-gen versions are on the way for a later date.
1. The Callisto Protocol – December 2
December didn’t have an obvious choice for the top spot in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in December 2022. But we’ve decided to give it to The Callisto Protocol. It’s a new IP, but there’s a ton of hype behind it. It’s a triple-a title, directed by one of the co-creators of the original Dead Space. And Dead Space looks to be a major influence, as The Callisto Protocol is a third person survival horror game that takes place in an outer space prison. It was developed specifically for next-gen consoles, so expect lots of interesting features to show off to those friends that haven’t found a PS5 yet. The Callisto Protocol will be available for everything except the Switch.
Do you agree with our choices? Can a brand new IP rightfully top an anticipated games list? Let us know in the comments.
