Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2025
2025 has been a phenomenal year for video game releases, and August is no exception. There are two runners-up this month. One is Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, a new 2D Shinobi game by the developers of Streets of Rage 4. The other is Kirby and the Forgotten Land: Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Star-Crossed World. Normally a major Kirby release would easily make a list like the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2025, but the original version is only 3 years old, and this new version is more of an upgrade than a new game. 5. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 – August 5
Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is the sequel to Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles. Both games are based on the crazy popular shonen anime Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The games are 3D arena fighters that borrow gameplay from the Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm games. The original Hinokami Chronicles was hampered by a lack of content, only having one season of Demon Slayer out at the time, and a small roster because of it. Hopefully a greatly expanded roster will make Demon Slayer fans feel like they’re getting more value out of this sequel. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2 is available for everything except Switch 2, although it will still be playable on it.
4. Lost Soul Aside – August 29
Lost Soul Aside is an action JRPG from new Chinese developer Ultizero Games. It looks incredibly gorgeous for a small dev studio, and borrows lots of aesthetics from Final Fantasy XV. Sony was so impressed with the small developer that they decided to publish Lost Soul Aside, and put their whole marketing machine behind it. It’s rare for a new IP to place high on a list like the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2025. Lost Soul Aside was originally scheduled for release in May 2025, but was pushed back at the last second. It will be available for PS5 and PC.
