Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026
September 2026 might be the most loaded September in video game history. If it wasn’t for October 2026 being even more stacked, people probably would’ve been talking about September for years to come. We have four runners-up this month. The Blood of Dawnwalker is an action RPG by former CD Projekt Red staff. Orbitals is gorgeous anime aesthetic co-op adventure game. NBA 2K27 is the biggest basketball game of the year. Trails in the Sky: 2nd Chapter is a remake of a JRPG classic. Any other month and all of these games would’ve made the Top 5. Without further ado, here are the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026:

5. Control: Resonant – September 24
Control: Resonant is the sequel to Control. The original Control is a third person shooter Metroidvania by Remedy Entertainment. Remedy has created a shared universe amongst their games, including Max Payne, Alan Wake, Quantum Break, and Control. Aside from each title’s unique gameplay ideas, they all have surreal storytelling that fans are excited to analyze. Players will use Jesse’s brother Dylan, with new open world gameplay focusing on melee combat. There are months when Control: Resonant would’ve been the easy top game on a list like the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026. It will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
4. Silent Hill: Townfall – September 24
Silent Hill: Townfall is the latest game in the revival of the Silent Hill survival horror series. It’s the first full series game to have a first-person perspective. Despite complaints about Silent Hill: The Short Message, and despite Silent Hill: Ascension being pure trash, the series is on a role after the success of Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f. Silent Hill: Townfall takes place in its developer’s home of Scotland. It’s going to be a departure from the series’ core in many ways. But a new Silent Hill game is always cause for celebration, so Townfall is an easy inclusion in the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026. It will be available for PS5, and PC.
3. Onimusha: Way of the Sword – September 4
There’s a brand-new Onimusha game coming out for the first time since 2006! The series is a Resident Evil spin-off that takes place in a demon-infested medieval Japan. For those who’ve played the demo, they know that the game has fast-paced combat akin to third person action games like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, and Ninja Gaiden. Developer Capcom has been on a role lately, with games like Resident Evil: Requiem, and Pragmata beloved by players. Hopefully Onimusha: Way of the Sword continues this quality trend. It was, more or less, a coin flip that kept Onimusha from claiming the top spot on the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026. It will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC.
2. Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave – September 17
Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave is the latest entry in Nintendo’s strategy JRPG series. It’s been almost four years since Fire Emblem: Engage. This newest game features four choose-able protagonists, which makes it feel like the developers are looking to recreate the success of popular past series entry Fire Emblem: Three Houses. First party Nintendo games are always in contendership for the top spot in lists like the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026. But there’s one game that eclipses it…
1. Marvel’s Wolverine – September 15
Marvel’s Wolverine is the third person action spiritual successor to Insomniac’s Spider-Man games. Although Wolverine can’t have web slinging gameplay, comic fans are excited to see the narrative Insomniac creates with the X-Men world. Trailers show brutal violence and stealth gameplay. The game promises appearances from deep cut fan favorite locations like Madripoor, and fan favorite characters like Omega Red. Marvel’s Wolverine claims the coveted top spot on the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games September 2026. It’s a PS5 exclusive.
