3. Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition – April 7
Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition is actually two games for the price of one! The titular Chrono Cross is one of the most beloved JRPGs of all time. It’s a sequel to Chrono Trigger (arguably THE most beloved JRPG of all time) that stands on its own. Fans have been hoping for a remaster for years, and it’s finally arriving for PS4, Switch Xbox One, and PC. The second game is Radical Dreamers, which is a short text adventure Super Famicom (pre-Chrono Cross) sequel to Chrono Trigger. It has never been officially released outside of Japan. Even in Japan, it was only available for the Super Famicom’s Satellaview game channel subscription service. Admittedly it’s not very good, but Chrono Cross is my 16th favorite video game ever (and yes, I have a list).
2. Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga – April 5
The Lego Star Wars franchise has a new entry covering all three film trilogies. The base game has 45 levels, and over 300 playable characters. Seven DLC packs have already been announced, and they include coverage of the Rogue One, and Solo movies, as well as the Mandalorian series. This definitive Lego Star Wars release will be available for all consoles and PC.
1. Nintendo Switch Sports – April 29
Nintendo Switch Sports is the sequel to the fourth best-selling video game ever. How could it not be the pinnacle of the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in April 2022!? Sports was a pack-in with the Wii system, but that game is also one of the major reasons the Nintendo Wii sold so well. Tennis and bowling return from Wii Sports, and sword fighting returns from Wii Sports Resort. The three new sports in Nintendo Switch Sports will be soccer, volleyball, and badminton. Golf will be a free future update. Nintendo Switch owners now have a new way to test out those Joy-Con capabilities!
