The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in November 2023 gets another JRPG in Persona 5 Tactica. Persona 5 Tactica is a story sequel to Persona 5, but it has strategy JRPG gameplay. It also has a visual style closer to the Persona Q games, rather than the mainline Persona games. Nintendo DS owners know that Atlus has created some great tactical JRPGs in Persona’s parent franchise, Shin Megami Tensei. Fans of the Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor games should take note! Persona 5 Tactica will be available for everything.
2. Super Mario RPG Remake – November 17
One of the best JRPGs of all-time, and a long-lost Super Mario Bros. classic is finally getting released on modern consoles! Super Mario RPG was a Super Mario-themed JRPG for the Super Nintendo, developed by Squaresoft at the height of their creative majesty. The Paper Mario, and Mario and Luigi series are both spiritual successors to Super Mario RPG. But neither series captured the magic of what Square created with Nintendo. Now that Square and Nintendo have a working relationship, the fans get the payoff. Super Mario RPG Remake looks very similar to the original, but with an updated graphical style that matches moder Super Mario Bros. games. Super Mario RPG Remake is a Switch exclusive.
1. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III – November 10
The obvious big kahuna in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in November 2023 is not a JRPG. It’s a massive triple-A first person shooter called Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Call of Duty has been hot since rebuilding the Modern Warfare series. The last few franchise entries have been an important leap forward. Although Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was originally developed as an expansion to Modern Warfare II, it grew into something much more massive. Players take note that lots of the new maps will be available post-launch. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will be available for everything except the Switch.
