September 2023 was such a good month for videogames! It also felt like the first month in a while that had a proper spread of release quality.
October is usually the biggest month of the year for videogame releases. Although there were game of the year contenders released throughout 2023, and June had 3 of them, October easily has the most high profile releases of any month.
The Legend of Nayuta: Boundless Trails is an action JRPG, originally released for the PSP, in Japan, in 2012. It’s part of the Trails series, which has slowly seen localization into English over the last several years.
Monochrome Mobius: Rights and Wrongs Forgotten is a below average JRPG in almost every category. But, it has a fantastic Grandia-inspired action ring combat system that fans of turn-based JRPGs should experience.
July 2023 was kind of a mid-tier month for videogame quality. There were a few big releases, but nothing comparable to the juggernaut games from June 2023. Nothing performed exceptionally well or exceptionally poorly.
When I started working on this article for The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023, I thought that it was going to be a pretty thin month. There were a couple games I was looking forward to, which occupy our #4 and #5 spots, but I had no clue that any of our Top 3 were coming out this month. So get excited for the coming month, if you weren’t already!
June ended up being a massive month for video game releases. July is looking like a bit of a typical summer lull, before the inevitable Fall game release avalanche. But July still has some great-looking games.
June 2023 was a first. It was a month that had three high profile Game of the Year contenders, and after the results were in, they all arguably exceeded expectations.
We Love Katamari is a better game than Katamari Damacy. It has more level variety, and had multiplayer options before it was remastered. We Love Katamari Reroll + Royal Reverie is a fantastic remaster of that already great game.
