Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2026
December 2025 was a typically slower month for video game releases. But, it did have a few heavy hitters. January is similar, in the sense that it has a solid top 3, but we had to dig a little deeper for the other entries. Out runner-up this month is the FMV/ Choose Your Own Adventure-style narrative: Dispatch. Dispatch has been available for PS5 and PC for a few months, but it’s coming out for Switch 2 and Switch in January 2026. Without further ado, here are the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2026:
5. Animal Crossing: New Horizons – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition – January 15
Animal Crossing: New Horizons is one of the most beloved entries in the social sim Animal Crossing series. It’s getting an enhanced Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, that comes with all the content of its recent 3.0 update, as well as 12 player multiplayer. Normally we wouldn’t include a port of a game that’s only five years old on a list like the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in January 2026. But January 2026 has fairly slim pickings, and these Nintendo Switch 2 Editions are pretty selective of only being for Switch classics.
4. Cairn – January 29
Cairn is a rock-climbing simulation game from developer The Game Bakers. The Game Bakers have blown up after two back-to-back indie smash hits: Furi and Haven. Cairn looks like its gameplay is heavily influenced by Death Stranding. The game will be available for PS5 and PC. It’s the highest-ranking of the games that probably wouldn’t normally make the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games January 2026.
