3. Pathologic 3 – January 9
Pathologic 3 is a first-person survival game. It’s the sequel to a very beloved PC game: Pathologic 2. The story of Pathologic 3 is about a doctor who has twelve days to save a town from a plague. Pathologic 1 & 2 are bizarre gameplay experiences, with a twisted narrative. Hopefully the devs continue to push their forward-thinking ideas in this sequel. Pathologic 3 will be a PC exclusive upon launch, but expect console ports in the future. This is the first of three games that could’ve taken the top spot in our Top 5 Upcoming Video Games January 2026.
2. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon – January 15
The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is the thirteenth game in the Trails JRPG series. It’s the sequel to Trails Through Daybreak II. And with its release, North America is finally caught up with the Japanese releases for the Trails series! Trails games should get North American releases to coincide with Japanese release dates from now on! The series has become must-play for JRPG fans, so Trails Beyond the Horizon is an exciting event. It’s available for all consoles and PC, except Xbox. The Legend of Heroes: Trails Beyond the Horizon is the second of the three games competing for the top spot in the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games January 2026.
1. Code Vein II – January 30
We’ve chosen Code Vein II as the top game of the three games competing for the top spot in the Top 5 Upcoming Video Games January 2026. It’s the sequel to a Soulslike developed by Bandai Namco from 2019. Code Vein II keeps the gorgeous anime-inspired visuals from the original, but developers have promised a very different experience, based on player feedback. Code Vein II will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
