Tactics Ogre: Reborn is an insanely high-quality remaster. There are so many improvements, including gameplay additions, menu expansion, display clarity, improved graphics, orchestrated music, and fully-voiced dialogue. This remaster isn’t a cheap cash-in. It’s the quality level of remaster that all others should aspire to.
If the only console you own is a Switch, then Aeterna Noctis is a very good Metroidvania, but the Switch version is the worst available.
October was a very good month for quality video game releases, but it didn’t match the incredible output from September. All of the top releases heavily exceeded expectations, and performed above the most hyped games from October 2022.
Fall is hot, and November is the heart of it. The top game arriving in November 2022 is arguably the biggest release of the year. Maybe only behind Elden Ring. Some very old franchises have massive releases, but there’s a new IP to kick things off.
If you’ve played Monster Rancher 1 & 2 DX, this is basically that game with an Ultraman theme. For Monster Rancher fans, this is more of what you love, with little innovation.
It has elements of many games, but the audience that really needs to play Tunic is the retro community that has a love for cryptic NES games. Tunic, in a far less punishing way, captures the NES feeling of being dropped into a world with no sense of direction, and no explanation of how to play.
September ended up being an insanely good month for video games. COGconnected published more 90+ review scores this month than any other in recent memory. Most of the major releases were excellent, but there were some unexpected gems that shone incredibly brightly.
October is always a massive month for video game releases, and October 2022 is no exception. It was pretty obvious what the Top 5 Video Games Arriving in October 2022 would be, but we were still shocked at some of the games we had to omit.
If you liked The Isle Dragon Roars, and The Forsaken Maiden, you’re guaranteed to enjoy The Beasts of Burden. If you’re new to the series, Voice of Cards: The Beasts of Burden is arguably the best of the bunch, and would make a great entry point for anyone curious.
