The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023
When I started working on this article for The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023, I thought that it was going to be a pretty thin month. There were a couple games I was looking forward to, which occupy our #4 and #5 spots, but I had no clue that any of our Top 3 were coming out this month. And I was also unaware of any of our honorable mentions. So get excited for the coming month, if you weren’t already! This month’s honorable mentions include Immortals of Aveum, a first-person shooter by a new studio made up of former Dead Space and Call of Duty Devs. There’s also a multiplayer PVP Texas Chainsaw Massacre game. And a fifth entry in the Trine puzzle platform series. The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023 are:
5. Sea of Stars – August 29
One of the most beloved 2D Metroidvanias of the last console generation was The Messenger. It begins as a modern take on the NES Ninja Gaiden games, but transforms into a 16-bit Metroidvania half way through. Sabotage Studio announced a prequel, that would be a Chrono Trigger-inspired JRPG. The Kickstarter was a massive success, and after a long wait, Sea of Stars is finally coming out in August 2023. It will be available for all consoles and PC.
4. Blasphemous II – August 24
Blasphemous is another beloved Metroidvania from the last console generation. It kept getting patches and DLC, and became a phenomenal experience by the time it was completed. Even before Blasphemous was completed, there were rumors of a sequel being developed. Hopefully it will continue the trend of increasing quality across the original’s release. There’s a lot of excitement around Blasphemous II, and it’s an easy entry in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023. Blasphemous II will be available for all current gen consoles and PC, but not PS4 or Xbox One.
3. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon – August 25
Everybody loves FromSoftware games, right? Their Souls games have heavily influenced the entire industry since the PS3 generation. And since Demon’s Souls original release, almost every game they’ve produced has been an extension of that franchise. But their most popular franchise used to be Armored Core, a mech simulator series. There’s hasn’t been an Armored Core game in 10 years, and fans of the Souls series should get excited to see FromSoftware flex their creativity in different genres. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon easily could have been the #1 game in The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023. It will be available for everything except the Switch.
2. Baldur’s Gate III – August 3
Larian Studios, who are now famous for their Divinity series, are making a long-awaited third Baldur’s Gate game. Baldur’s Gate II came out 23 years ago, and it’s a massive statement to create a true sequel over two decades later. The Baldur’s Gate IP, and the quality of the Divinity games makes for an obvious massive release. This will be a must-play for all fans of isometric PC RPGs. Baldur’s Gate III will release as a PC-exclusive in August, but there will be a PS5 version in September.
1. Madden NFL 24 – August 18
Another year, another Madden game. But one can’t ignore the sales, quality, or pedigree of this long-standing football sim. Not much has been said about changes in the new game, aside from Josh Allen being the cover athlete. So Madden NFL 2024 probably won’t try and reinvent much. But players can expect a solid experience. Madden NFL 24 is an easy choice for highest entry on The Top 5 Video Games Arriving in August 2023, and will be available for everything except the Switch.
While the popular video games from major studios offer unmatched action and amazing graphics, gaming studios are also offering online casino games that bring exciting options to new and experienced players. There are numerous immersive games that are offered via live dealer platforms.
