Overwatch 2 May Release in April
According to a known Overwatch leaker, Metro, the latest season of Overwatch League has been delayed until April to coincide with the launch of Overwatch 2. While Activision Blizzard hasn’t confirmed the launch date for Overwatch 2, Metro seems confident in an April release for the highly anticipated sequel to Blizzard’s popular hero shooter. Overwatch is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, Nintendo Switch, and PC, while Overwatch 2 is expected on the same platforms, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5 next year.
“Overwatch 2 release news!” said familiar Overwatch leaker Metro on a recent Twitter post. “Rumors of the next OWL season being delayed until April to make sure they can launch with OW2 suggest that the expected beta or even full release of the game around Blizzcon in February 2021 is very likely!” With the suggested time frame from Metro, gamers could expect to see more of Overwatch 2 at BlizzCon 2021 in February, including a beta or full release around the time of the popular annual convention.
Overwatch is currently in the midst of Halloween Terror 2020 which brought more spooky skins to the Blizzard hero shooter, while the next season of Overwatch League will apparently ring in Overwatch 2. When Blizzard officially announced Overwatch 2, it was confirmed that the multiplayer content will be shared with the original Overwatch, while the skins from the original will carry over for players who have an extensive collection in their hero gallery.
While these rumors may not be true and should always be taken with a grain of salt, Metro is a known Overwatch leaker who has gotten things right in the past. Do you hope Overwatch 2 releases in April as Metro suggests? Let us know in the comments below!
