Crucible Is Amazon Games’ Free-To-Play Team-Based Shooter
Amazon Games has revealed their free-to-play team-based shooter known as Crucible which is launching tomorrow, May 20th. The game will include 10 unique hunters to play as and three game modes to try out from day one. Gamers will fight over a resource known as Essence in Crucible across the three game modes: Heart of the Hives, Harvester Command and Alpha Hunters. The gameplay is MOBA inspired as hunters will level up and increase in power as the matches unfold. Amazon Games’ Crucible will be available exclusively for the Steam platform on PC when it releases tomorrow.
Each of the ten unique hunters in Crucible will feature their own abilities and they’re broken down into familiar categories such as healer, tank and DPS. Heart of the Hives is inspired by capture the flag, Harvester Command is about securing a specific zone and Alpha Hunters is a traditional team deathmatch style game mode. While the game is releasing tomorrow, Crucible hasn’t had a formal open beta, so fans may encounter bugs that may have otherwise been spotted before an official release.
“In Crucible, every match is different, and players’ choices matter. Every opponent, team, and mode poses unique dangers, and no two matches are the same, so players must constantly adapt to everything the world and the other teams throw at them. We’re excited for players to join the hunt in just a couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to hear what they think of it,” said vice president at Amazon Games Christoph Hartmann. Crucible is the first of two major Amazon Games titles set to release this year, with New World set to release in August.
