Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star Gets ESRB rating
Fate/Extella: The Umbral Star is an action video game in development by Marvelous for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita. It is planned to be released next month, by Marvelous in Japan, Europe and Australia, and by XSEED in North America. While the gameplay will remind you of the games in the Senran Kagura series, it might not be the only thing that carried over according to the newly released ESRB rating, that describes some moderately saucy content.
This is what the ESRB had to say:
“Content Descriptors: Alcohol Reference, Fantasy Violence, Language, Partial Nudity, Suggestive Themes
Rating Summary: This is a role-playing game in which players command one of three factions fighting for control of a virtual world. Players engage in hack-and-slash combat with hordes of robotic enemy soldiers using swords, scythes, and staffs. Battles are accompanied by colorful light effects, impact sounds, and large explosions; enemies collapse to the ground and disappear when defeated. The game contains some suggestive text within the dialogue (e.g., “I keep my mouth shut, close my eyes, and let her body take full control of mine”; “As I move around the abdomen and hip area, I was planning to explore the core of her lower half”; and “She lies on top of me, pressing down. Shes’s warm and comfortable like a blanket.”). Some female characters are depicted topless with pasties barely over their breasts; some monsters are also depicted topless, though without discernible details (i.e., no nipples). During the course of the game, players can engage in one side quest that states “Drink 4 bottles of sake.” The word “sh*t” appears in dialogue.”
The lack of nipples is also in common with Senran Kagura, but this isn’t a big surprise. We also shouldn’t be surprised about the inclusion of this kind of content as the Fate series started as an eroge. It should be noted ESRB ratings are usually done on the final script of the game in English, so this is what we’re going to find in the western release of the game published by XSEED.
