Amnesia: The Bunker Faces Another Short Delay Until June

Frictional Games is a well-established video game developer with experience in developing haunting video games. In the past, it has worked on the Amnesia franchise as well as SOMA and Penumbra. The company has been working on its upcoming title, Amnesia: The Bunker for some time. Unfortunately, it has announced another delay for the game from May 23rd until June 6th. It will release on PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

In a video message, Creative Lead, Fredrik Olsson, stated, “We are going through the certification process and we have encountered multiple rare crashes, very difficult to identify, reproduce, and thereby also fix…We simply can’t make it time. The alternative would’ve been to ask the team to work weekends or nights, but that’s simply not something we do here at Frictional.”

Therefore, it appears that the company has decided to delay the game instead of forcing workers into a ‘crunch’ schedule. The crunch schedule is something that has become taboo in the industry, as many developers have complained of severe working conditions approaching the launch date. Furthermore, gamers have come to prefer delays to releases rather than bad launches, as a playable product is much better.

In the game, players will have to fight for their life as they scavenge for resources and try to escape an ever present being. It is a thrilling experience.
