Splinter Cell Devs Are Rebuilding Game ‘From the Ground Up’

Splinter Cell Remake Is Coming

Splinter Cell devs confirmed to the gaming public last year that they are fully remaking the game. They promised fans that the new game will accommodate the refined palate of gamers today.

Instead of a straight up remaster of the original title, Producer Matt West revealed that they are actually “rebuilding it from the ground up.” They purposely decided to do this to make sure that “the spirit of the early games remains intact.”

We are going to be straddling the line between the spirit of the old and the comfort of the new,” West continued. “We can excite and surprise new players but also make sure that when our returning players pick up the controller, they have that sigh of relief saying ‘Ahhh, they got it.’”

The visual overhaul for Splinter Cell will obviously be in the cards. After all, the game is two decades old. Plus, devs also confirmed that they redid multiple design elements “to match player comfort and expectations.”

Using the first Splinter Cell game as our foundation we are rewriting and updating the story for a modern day audience,” read the job listing for a new script writer. “We want to keep the spirit and themes of the original game while exploring our characters and the world to make them more authentic and believable.”

The script writer will be joining the narrative team at Ubisoft Toronto. Once hired, the new staff will help the team in coming up with a “cohesive and compelling narrative experience or a new audience of Splinter Cell fans.”

At the moment, devs did not provide any indication of a release date. They also did not say whether or not they are still working on nailing down the game’s story line. Fans may have while to wait before they hear anything solid.
