Sly Cooper Devs Currently Have ‘No Plans’ to Revisit Franchise

No Sly Cooper or Infamous Reboots Are in the Works at the Moment

Sly Cooper is not getting a reboot—not yet, anyway. According to Sucker Punch Productions, their team is currently focused on a different project. The announcement quashes rumors that they have worked hard at rebooting Sly Cooper and Infamous.

With our focus on our current project, we have no plans to revisit Infamous or Sly Cooper right now,” they confirmed. “No other studio is currently working on projects related to those franchises either.”

Earlier this year, multiple sources claimed that devs were working on rebooting both Sly Cooper and Infamous. These reports sent fans of both franchises into a frenzy. However, their hopes have now been quashed following Sucker Punch’s clarification on the matter.

Although devs have not announced anything new, they want fans to know that they are working on additional work to keep some of their older games alive.

We know many people still play these games even today,” Communications Manager Andrew Goldfarb said. “So we will be performing maintenance on Infamous 2 UGC servers soon to move them to a new home that will keep them up and running a bit longer.”

Unfortunately, Goldfarb confirmed that they would “eventually need to sunset” these titles. However, they “want to keep them running for as long as possible for players who are still active.” He hopes their clarifications will put “some misleading rumors to bed.

Although no reboot is coming, they are “working to put Cole’s Legacy DLC for Infamous Second Son on PlayStation Store in all territories for anyone who missed it.”

Still, the door for a Sly Cooper or Infamous reboot is not entirely closed. After all, the games “are very special and near and dear” to their hearts. “We would never say never to re-opening those doors down the road,” devs added. “For now, there are not Infamous or Sly Cooper games in development.”
