Journey, Skyrim, and Spider-Man Developers Announce Studio Gardens

Developers Announce Studio Gardens is Built on Collective Growth

A group of developers from classic titles like Journey, Skyrim, and Spider-Man announce a new studio, Gardens. It seems that Gardens is built around the idea of collective growth. In other words, the team plans to grow a studio that is transparent, sustainable, inclusive, and empowering of players and developers.

Co-founders Chris Bell, Lexie Dostal, and Stephen Bell all have strong backgrounds in creative indie titles. Their portfolios include What Remains of Edith Finch, Dustforce, and Blaseball. Apparently, they’re intending to use Gardens as a platform to create vibrant online games. Hopefully, these titles will create strong bonds between players around the world.

What Remains of Edith Finch is one of the games studio Garden co-founders worked on.

Reportedly, Gardens will be a fully-functioning remote studio, but it is primarily based in Portland and Los Angeles. In addition to this, the team features developers who worked on projects like projects such as Spider-Man, Ratchet & Clank, Skyrim, the Fallout series, Ashen, and The Hobbit.

According to Chris Bell, Gardens’ top priority is employee growth and happiness. First, the studio will make sure its teammates have the tools and resources to grow happily. Next, it will take of them as they craft compelling and thoughtful games. Finally, gamers will be able to enjoy the novel online experiences Gardens has created.

Moreover, the studio’s nature builds out of the kind of games it wishes to create. The team behind the Gardens studio announce that its artfully-crafted living environments are designed to encourage rich multiplayer interactions. Both the studio and its games will rely on communities to thrive. This will encourage players to build lasting friendships and be considerate.

The studio has one upcoming, unnamed title that builds on the team’s past shared online experiences. And it also features the concept art of ma-ko and art direction by Leighton Milne. Additionally, Gardens is currently hiring for a number of roles. This includes 3D Artist, Animator, and Engineer positions.
