Deep Rock Galactic Mines its way onto the PlayStation
Deep Rock Galactic is getting a PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 port in January of 2022. The game is currently exclusive for PC and Xbox, and this will be the game’s first new console edition since its official release last year.
Deep Rock Galactic is a sci-fi, cooperative first-person shooter. The game was developed by Ghost Ship Games and was released for early access in February of 2018. The full release for Xbox and PC came out in May of 2020. The game has one to four players playing as dwarves in space. The dwarves travel to various planets exploring the planet’s mines and gathering its resources. The game has a heavy focus on PvE as players must fend off hordes of hostile creatures while exploring the mines. The goal is to collectively gather as many materials as possible while completing the given tasks and doing all of this without getting killed.
Ghost Ship Games made the announcement via Steam earlier today. On top of the PlayStation ports, they also released information regarding cross-play and season 2. There will be cross-play between PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but there will be no cross-play to Steam and Xbox. The company made no promises but did say they will try and work on a way to have cross-play between all consoles. The game currently supports cross-play between Steam and Xbox.
The announcement also included information about season 2. Deep Rock Galactic’s newest season will have four new secondary weapons, one for each class. The season will also include a new free performance pass. The performance pass will have brand new cosmetics to unlock and event tie-ins. The new season is coming to Steam first sometime between March and April of next year and a few weeks later for Xbox and PlayStation.
