A Deeper Look At No More Heroes 3 Gameplay

Travis Touchdown Saves The World

The No More Heroes series has been clawing its way back to prominence over the past few years after blowing gamers away when first released back in 2007. First a spinoff title, Travis Strikes Again, was released in 2019 after a 7-year gap between entries, and now we’re finally getting another main series game: No More Heroes 3. Legendary indie designer and director Suda51 will be returning for the game, but will the fast-paced action and irreverent humour we’ve come to expect from the series hold up in 2021?

Well, we can find out right now – a full half hour of No More Heroes 3 gameplay has been revealed on the latest episode of Washigana TV, a Japanese YouTube channel that produces “radio-like” discussions of games, hobby culture and plenty of topics besides. You can check it out right here!

There are plenty of returning elements that fans of No More Heroes are sure to love, like Travis taking some time off from the assassin business to make a little cash by doing odd jobs around the streets of Santa Destroy. The action seems fast and fluid, but it looks like there may be a few kinks to work out before launch – namely the jumpy framerate in the open world.

No More Heroes 3 continues the tale of Travis Touchdown, the world’s greatest assassin. With beam katana in hand, Travis has made his way to the top of Earth’s leaderboard – but now he’s facing off against the best the rest of the galaxy has to offer.

The game’s official description on the Nintendo storefront outlines Travis’ new predicament: “Fight your way to the top of the Galactic Superhero Rankings! The legendary assassin Travis Touchdown makes his glorious return to the Madness! Our hero, Travis Touchdown, must make it to the top of the Galactic Superhero Rankings in order to stop the evil Prince FU and his ten alien assassins from taking over the Earth.”

No More Heroes 3 is set to release on Nintendo Switch on August 27, 2021.
