Chivalry 2 Open Beta Brings Battle Across Platforms

All-Out War

Following a successful closed beta, Torn Banner Studios have announced the date for the long-awaited sequel Chivalry 2’s open beta. First announced at E3 2019, Chivalry 2 is the latest in the cult classic series based on intense, technically intricate first-person medieval combat. Somewhat infamous for its steep learning curve, the original Chivalry: Medieval Warfare’s multiplayer focus has lead to it growing a dedicated fanbase. Chivalry 2 promises to turn this up to 11, as it brings 64-player battles to a cross-platform open beta, launching May 27th.

Chivalry 2

The Chivalry 2 open beta will be available on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and PC through the Epic Games Store, and includes a wide range of battle maps and game modes. For the more teamwork-oriented player, the Battle of Darkforest and Siege of Rudhelm maps will be focused on working with your allies to capture objectives within enemy territory, while the Battle of Wardenglade and Tournament Grounds maps offer a good old-fashioned Team Deathmatch One game mode that’s sure to be a chaotic, action-packed experience in the large lobbies that Chivalry 2 hosts is Free-For-All, pitting each player against each other on the Team Deathmatch maps. Or, if you’ve got a score to settle with a sworn foe, Duel serves will allow one-on-one battles. If you’re looking for more strategically focused fight than the chaotic 64-player battles, 40-player servers will be available for a smaller-scale experience.

Chivalry 2 will allow a high level of character customization – cosmetic items can be unlocked by gaining experience through battle in each of the game’s four base classes and twelve subclasses.

Chivalry 2’s PlayStation service is reminiscent of Square Enix MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV – PlayStation players will not need a PlayStation Plus account to play the open beta online, while Xbox players will require an Xbox Live subscription. There will be some benefits to playing with friends on the same platform: before joining a Cross-Platform match, players on the same platforms can form parties to enter battle together.

The Chivalry 2 open beta launches on May 27th, with pre-downloading opening on May 26th.
