Bandai Namco Producer Teases Expensive Title
During a recent interview on Piro Live! New Year’s Eve Special 2021 in Japan, Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada teased Bandai Namco’s upcoming project. According to the Bandai Namco veteran, the upcoming game was only recently approved despite being a very ambitious title that’s the most expensive title from the publisher to date. Bandai Namco’s recently released Fast and Furious Crossroads is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
According to Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada, the upcoming title from the Japanese publisher is the “most costly development projects in Bandai Namco history.” Considering this includes big titles such as Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Tekken 7, Dark Souls II, and Soulcalibur, it’ll be interesting to see what the most costly title in Bandai Namco history ends up looking like when development is finished. Bandai Namco is currently publishing Elden Ring, but since this teased project was only recently approved, it looks like another upcoming title is even more ambitious.
Many publishers have been scaling back in 2020, but Bandai Namco seems mostly unaffected by the changing world as 2020 was a good year for the publisher. Beyond the expected anime titles such as One Piece: Pirate Warriors and Captain Tsubasa: Rise of New Champions, Bandai Namco has also published titles such as The Dark Pictures Anthology and Twin Mirror this year, showing how diverse their gaming library is. The only thing that Katsuhiro Harada has confirmed about the recently approved title beyond the cost is that it won’t be a fighting game, so Tekken fans will have to stick with Tekken 7 for now.
