Alcatraz May Be Coming to Call of Duty: Warzone

Leaks Suggest Warzone Alcatraz and Cold War Maps

According to recent leaks, some big changes are coming to both Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War. Warzone fans can apparently expect to see an island added to the battle royale that’s inspired by Black Ops 4’s Alcatraz Island. Some Black Ops: Cold War maps from Season 1 leaked ahead of time, hinting that gamers will be competing for dubs in a TV station, a train station, a missile silo, and a location from the campaign. Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War is available right now for Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, PS5, and PC, with crossplay enabled between them all.

A recently leaked image gained traction on the Call of Duty Reddit community which is what gives Black Ops: Cold War gamers an idea of what multiplayer maps to expect from the first season. The image included the KGB headquarters familiar to Call of Duty fans who played the campaign. While a mall has already been teased for Cold War, the other Season 1 maps in the teaser are a TV station that looks like it’s hosting a game show, a dark and gloomy metro station, and a missile silo akin to Launch from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops.

Call of Duty: Warzone fans have been speculating about an Alcatraz island being added to the battle royale since a Warzone roadmap released last month. This roadmap included a “classified Warzone experience,” which may include a map overhaul or a limited-time mode. Part of the roadmap image included was partially redacted, but it teases an “(redacted)eniya Island,” which the Call of Duty community believes is based on the real-life location in the Aral sea, Vozrozhdeniya Island. This island is where the Soviets tested biological weapons and it was the location of one of the original Black Ops missions.
