Psyonix Brings a Touch of Epic Games to Rocket League
Rocket League recently entered its first season as a free-to-play game, and the first event has officially kicked off today. The new event includes new cosmetics to unlock by completing challenges, including the Battle Bus from Fortnite as a driveable car and a Llama Topper which will be familiar to Fortnite fans as well. This collaboration brings new stuff to both Rocket League and Fortnite, encouraging fans of both titles to try the other and see what it has to offer. Rocket League is available right now for Xbox One, PS4, PC, Mac, and Nintendo Switch as a free-to-play title.
After completing Llama-Rama Challenges, players can view the Rocket League Event Challenge Page to redeem Rocket League rewards for completed Challenges. On the Fortnite side of things, players will receive Challenge rewards after logging into Fortnite after each Challenge is completed in Rocket League. Fans of both Fortnite and Rocket League will be able to capitalize the most on this collaborative event between the two titles. Epic Games recently acquired Psyonix, and this is likely one of many fun ways they’ll have the popular car soccer game interact with their various IPs.
“The Battle Bus has a full tank of boost and is flying into Rocket League!” said a recent post from the Fortnite Team. “Fortnite is celebrating Rocket League’s move to Free to Play with Llama-Rama, a crossover event where players can complete Rocket League Challenges to unlock rewards for both Rocket League and Fortnite. It’s the perfect time to check out what Soccar is all about!”
Llama-Rama kicked off with a live performance from the popular EDM DJ Slushii, similar to other events from stars such as Marshmellow and Travis Scott. The new event actively encourages gamers to equip the new cosmetics through the gameplay challenges.
