NHL 21 Being Revealed Next Week

EA Will Unveil NHL 21 This Monday

Electronic Arts has officially announced that they’ll be revealing NHL 21 on Monday, August 24th with an official reveal trailer being scheduled for 8:00 a.m. that day. The unveil of NHL 21 will likely include the cover star, gameplay, and information on new content that separates NHL 21 from NHL 20. The title will not be cross-generational, but it will be forward compatible for the PS5 and Xbox Series X when the next-gen consoles release later this year. NHL 20 is currently available on Xbox One and PS4 and it’s part of the extensive EA Access lineup.

While EA has already confirmed that NHL 21 will be releasing later in the season than NHL titles usually release, gamers won’t be able to get their hands on NHL 21 until October. This pushes the next ice hockey title from the Vancouver studio from a September release, but the reveal comes just in time for the start of the Stanley Cup Playoff’s second round. There won’t be a PS5 or Xbox Series X version for fans looking for a next-gen experience, but the PS4 and Xbox One versions will work on the next-gen consoles.

The annual reveal trailers for NHL titles aren’t usually more than one-minute long hype videos with short cuts of gameplay, but they give fans of the series an idea of what to expect without giving away too much. The reveal trailer will debut on NHL’s YouTube channel on Monday and it’s likely that eagle-eyed fans of NHL will quickly dissect each moment of the trailer to track the key differences between NHL 20 and NHL 21. COVID-19 may have pushed back the release of several titles, including NHL 21, but we’re looking forward to the reveal trailer and seeing which hockey star will be gracing the cover this year.
