Darksiders 3 Developer Hiring for New Project

Darksiders 3 May Be Getting a Sequel Using Unreal Engine 4

According to their official website, the developer behind Darksiders 3, Gunfire Games, is looking for a combat designer to create combat that’s worthy of a “top of class AAA game.” Darksiders is a franchise that’s familiar to the triple-A quality experience since the series conception and it’s possible this job listing alludes to another sequel exploring the horsemen of the apocalypse. The game will apparently be developed using Unreal Engine 4 but it’s unknown whether the game will be developed for the current or next generation technology.

According to the job listing, the ideal candidate has a firm grasp on the fundamentals of animation and experience using state machines to hook up characters. We’re interested to see if the AAA title will be another Darksiders title, Remnant: From the Ashes 2 or something else entirely. The use of Unreal Engine 4 is nothing new to the studio as that’s the engine that Darksiders 3 was made with. Although we considered the last Darksiders to be a bit of a misstep in the series, we wouldn’t mind if they returned to the fundamentals established with the original and Darksiders 2. Apparently the new combat designer will join the design leadership to design, implement and polish compelling combat experiences. While the previous Darksiders titles have had compelling combat, it’s something they can definitely flesh out more. Combat will apparently be a central part of the game’s vision so it will definitely be an action-packed experience at a AAA quality level. Knowledge of Modern Combat techniques is required so the new combat designer will likely be familiar with Dark Souls, Sekiro and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

What do you hope to see from Gunfire Games next? Would you rather see a new Darksiders title, a new Remnant: From the Ashes or something new entirely? Let us know in the comments below!
