Doom 64 Joins Doom Eternal on Launch

Doom 64 Will be a Pre-Order Bonus for Eternal

During the recent Nintendo Direct, Doom 64 was announced as a pre-order bonus for Doom Eternal. Initially it was uncertain if this was strictly a Nintendo bonus or not but Bethesda confirmed the pre-order bonus is available for every platforms. Gamers who pre-order Doom Eternal will also receive the “Rip and Tear Pack,” which includes the DOOT Revenant player skin, Throwback Shotgun Weapon skin, Cultist Base Master Level, a remix of the main game’s Cultist Base level, and some other goodies. Doom Eternal is releasing on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC and Google Stadia on March 20th 2020.

Doom Eternal

Doom 64 was originally released on March 31st, 1997 for Nintendo 64 and it’s nice that the re-release of it will complement the Doom Eternal experience on launch. The free Doom 64 digital download is available with any past, present, or future pre-order of Doom Eternal between now and March 20th. The game includes more than 30 action-packed levels of nostalgic, Gothic gore. Releasing with Doom Eternal is a great way to engage new fans who weren’t playing the game designed from the ground up for the N64.

Doom 64 was originally developed by Midway, not id Software but Bethesda was able to acquire the rights to porting it to modern consoles. Previously it was announced that Doom 64 would be releasing on November 22nd 2019, which is still true, but Bethesda is using the opportunity of Doom Eternal’s release to get the elusive gem in the hands of more gamers. Though Doom Eternal was delayed to a 2020 release, we’re confident that Bethesda and id Software will use the extra time to craft it into a superior experience to the highly acclaimed 2016 reboot.
