BioWare Can’t Seem to Decide What to Do With Anthem
Anthem’s Cataclysm event was meant to end and many aspects of it have, but BioWare has chosen specific aspects of the temporary event to keep in the game moving forward. Gamers can continue to delve into a lot of the Cataclysm content to collect Crystals to buy cosmetic items. According to BioWare, Cataclysm officially ended but The Echoes of Reality portion of the event remains for gamers to explore and continue earning Crystals. The content is expected to remain in Anthem until the next big content drop and is currently available on the live version of the game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
After adopting a seasonal event structure for Anthem rather than the initially planned three-act structure planned by BioWare, the future roadmap of the game has been in question. It seems with BioWare backtracking on removing all of Cataclysm from the game shows that even the developer doesn’t know what the future of Anthem holds.
Features such as the Seasonal Store were removed from the game but will be returned soon so gamers who are still on the Anthem train can continue spending their Crystals on Cataclysm loot. Meanwhile, daily Cataclysm challenges, freeplay events and Story missions will be dismissed until a potential Cataclysm year two. Leaderboards will continue being visible for now, but will slowly go blank for the next event, which has no expected release date as of now despite the fact that the three-act roadmap was very well laid out.
Did the Cataclysm bring you back to Anthem or were you already done with the game at that point? Does the attempt to continue offering aspects of the Cataclysm event to gamers between now and the next event make you want to play the game more? Let us know in the comments below!
